====================================================================================
Hi Friends,
As is my usual practice; I am attempting to summarize all your replies ….. the replies to my mailer for the “Post Marriage scenario” !!
As always; there are some replies which are simple one-liners …… from our very own busy friends !!
And not to miss out on some amazing replies which show that people still have the time to go thru the long mailers …… reflect upon it …… and even reply to the mailers …… putting their thoughts to words !!
But the crux of the matter is …… no matter what …… these are some topics which are very close to your heart & the very fact that people put their pens to paper (in this case – the fingers to the keyboard) is that you all are touched by it ……. Somewhere deep inside your heart !!
And to all those lazy bums who have read the mails but are yet to muster the courage to send in their replies – WAKE UP !! (Before you get married)
So, lay back and enjoy ……. Cos this is what you – the wonderful of people have written about the Post Marriage scenario!!
1.0 Niral – my friend at my Society
Hey buddy,
read the first couple of line of your 5 page word document and I kinda get the bottom line , " Marriage aint that bad......", good to know that , LOL
Will go through the rest of the 5 pages as soon as I can dig up some time to do so, and get back to you with my expert comments, haha !!

7.0 Sheece Bhagdadi – My School friend
hahaha.. good fun to read. so where did u hide and write this mail secretly from? do u want me to come and rescue you, probably the mail u wrote was screened and u deliberately avoided saying that in so many words. but then again u cld actually be happily married... but then as they say happily married is an oxymoron....
Well, from the words itself, this langoti-yaar friend of mine spells out his professional beans – A CREATIVE writer that he is …… words seem to flow effortlessly from him !!
8.0 John Neelankavil – My Senior Alumni from School
Hi Sandeep,
Welcome to the 'married' men club. You will be invited for the the second level initiation ceremony soon, normally after you complete two years of wedded life:-)
Always good to read the efforts of your penmanship. I noticed however that before marriage (including the part in this article that refers to before the marriage), you used popular quotes and oft repeated clichés sparingly, but after the marriage, the narration is filled with them under the guise of concluding remarks. In fact there is very little of your own 'gems of wisdom'. I dread to think of what is in store from you in the immediate future. Imagine Sandeep conversing only in clichéd quotes:-)
Beneath it all, it is evident that you are in bliss as of now, (although the term "opposite partner" creeps into your lexicon already while you allude to your wife). Keep it up !! (no pun intended). I am aware that "rising to the occasion" and 'life has ups and downs" will have acquired new meaning for you.
Screeeeaaaam when you need help, it is a good method to test your reflexes and also it will earn you the invite for the second level sooner ....
Well, as is evident, John is one of the best writers around …… a man who can put words to thoughts …… and maintain those mischievous and humorous touch!! Thanx John, Can never forget “ My Vote of Thanks” !!
9.0 Hemant Ramaswamy – My friend of Somaiya
Wah Sandy Wah:
Looks like your knife is still sharp. Was nice to read your mail after a long time. Tu 100 saal jeeyega. Main abhi soch raha tha ki bahut din se teramail dikha nahi, and immediate tera mail.
Aur kya chal raha hai life mein? I'll definitely use your offer of personal advice, when I need it. Kerala gaya tha kya? Aajkal online bhi nahi dikhta.
Obviously, your l(w)ife's keeping you busy. ;)
Hemant just has his Birthday last week …..5th May ….. Oops could not wish U on your Birthday Hemant but then it’s never too late – Wish U A Belated Happy B’day !!
10.0 Samir Modi – My friend from Somaiya Alumi
Hi Sandeep,
Three months of married life! Congratulations on reaching this important milestone! From here on, it's all going to be downhill!! Just kidding!! :))
As always, it was interesting to read your mail. Wish you all the happiness in your married life. As you said, you now have a friend for life. For a successful friendship, listening to your friend is just as important (maybe more so), as talking to her.
11.0 Alex D’souza – My friend from School
Hey Sandeep,
Nice to receive yr mail, was actually waiting for one from U.. and i thought people change their habits after marriage or does it .. the proverbs were all matched to perfection my favourite one being "o The secret of a happy marriage ……. remains a secret !!"

12.0 Ramesh Waghela – My Alumni Batchmate from School
Dear Sandeep,
Welcome to the other side, So you are now finally (after 3 months) resigned to the fact that you are married. Do tell me why did you take so long to communicate to the outside world about your current status.
We can all understand you may be tied down with new daily chores in addition to carrying on with your job as well or is it just plain stay away from internet you spend too much time on it.
13.0 Nishank Joshi – My friend (Ex-MGL)
Hi dude,
always a pleasure recg a mail from u. The one thing that I appreciate the most is the thorough research for quotes that you undertake.
The one thing that I dont appreciate is the SIZE of the mail. 5 pages.. man 5 pages... Aur bol, its nice to know marriage is treating u well. Things pretty cool on my front too. Chal then,, keep in touch... and heres looking forward to a 2-3 page mail.
Nishank, sorry to disappoint you on the last part cos this mail is now going to a minimum of 6 pages …….!!
14.0 Mehjabeen – My friend
hey sandy,
nice to hear u after long three months. "lagta hai shaadi ka nasha abhi utra "
on reading subject as "Post marriage scenario" i thought it to be something very very interesting, hmn! but the most interesting part is censored, Why Sandy?
it was nice reading ur mail , it is interesting to know that u have got life partner as interesting as u. and more of it what i learnt from ur mail is, the respect and the emotions towards ur better half is absolutely admirable.
Its very important to understand the one who has come all the way leaving besides sweet memories of childhood, family, friends which means lot to us, and i liked it that you realize it, everybody cannot realise it.
The more u respect ur better half and love her , the more respect and prosperity u will gain. Take my words. I admire ur mail and ur love for better half. Convey my regards to Shobha, the one who has filled ur life with colours.
ur jokes in midst of the mailer was quite interesting and some very true. i think u have worked hard on this mailer and i appreciate ur efforts to pen it down. i m sure, the time consumed for this mailer might have been robbed from the shobhas attention and time that is allocated for her.
Thanx Mehjabeen, Great words from the wise ……. Thanx for all your compliments and best wishes !! I heard you were somewhere in Bangalore doing an NGO project ….. send me the details whenever possible !!
15.0 Jiju Jacob – My friend from Somaiya
Nice to hear from you after a long while... You are the only link..... God Bless you both and oki... i'll skip the "all the best" part cause whatever happens happens for the best.....
Jiju – a man of few words …… Thanx for the Blessings Boss !!
16.0 Ameya Samant – My friend from Society
Yea…….ur mails are getting shorter by the day and scarce too!!!
I would rather not ask u the reason of them getting shorter and go on with what I have to say about the mail. Nice explanation of what married life is all about...but dear u r just getting started...so don't run into any conclusions, good or bad, just yet (bhabhi don't read this). Your mail would prove as an inspiration to all those guys who r looking out for that special someone or are about to fall in one such trap...marriage.
Lets hope u go on and write such short mails…….10 times in a day!!
Hey Ameya, the best is yet to come …….. !!
17.0 Vanita Sherekar : My friend (…… she wrote this mail to my wife)
After reading his small (????) mail i wants to ask U that he has joint any PH.D. Course in this subject, then very soon we all will received a novel on this topic written by Mr. Sandeep Narayan..
But I am happy that somebody is seriously thinking on this topic..I always asked him that when he will be serious in his life, now I got the answer............!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but credit goes to U only)
Vanita Madam; I am about to publish the novel …… would love to get the preface written by you. So get your thinking hats on and fingers on the Keyboard !! By the way, howz Reliance doing nowadays ……. Confusions galore !!
18.0 Mandar Malshe – My friend in Society
hey sandy,
nice description. but u have included the 'post marriage’ scenario very little and the wedding description a lot. but the mail was never the less to say "ENLIGHTENING". (for the part where u have said tht u need not know everything on ur wedding nite......??????? just waiting for a confirmation on that.!!..but all an out to put ur mail in 2 words"SIMPLY SUPERB". pray continue with this good habit of sending mails which would be beneficial for us(me in particular!!) after a few years.
Mandar beta, pehle 8th Sem viva complete karo aur Engineering college ke bahar niklo !! Shaadi and the Post Marriage scenario is still a long way down !! Thanx for the great reply !!
19.0 Somasundaram N – My friend (Ex- MGL)
Well, Soma actually sent his wedding invitation as the reply mailer. He got married in April ‘05.
20.0 Yashoda Mendon – My wife’s best friend
Thanx for sending such a eye opening email. How is shobs? does she talk abt Me and Bhavi ?U Do get time to talk Bcoz there r many wonderfull things to do after coming home. Who will waste time in talking. i m really happy that u send this email to me.
21.0 Shankar Rathnam – My Ex- Senior Colleague
Excellent outlook towards marriage, but my friend its only been 3 months and you have not even seen the tip of the iceberg. I call this first 9-12 months the period of honeymoon and things take a turn after that. SO enjoy while it lasts and write back after 2 years from now.
22.0 Akshara Yermal – My cousin and a very good friend
Managed to read ur lengthy mail in my busy schedule .... today being the last day of the extended year end... was terribly hectic ........
Hey, me more experienced than u since married now for more than 7 months .... although we were together only for 5 months ..... now the only thing in my mind is to go to him asap......
Marriage for girls have many more shades than guys have cause we go to a different house which now is my own..... my inlaws ....all are just great couldn’t have asked for more ........ Its true they say marriages are made in heaven .... how from nowhere that very special person of ur life comes and changes everything .... this person is ur soul mate which u realize just in a few meetings and u fall in love with him...
I think have pakofied u a lot will leave something for the next time........
23.0 Vinita – My cousin sister
I checked my mail quite after a long time. So I am responding you late. Well I enjoyed reading your post marriage scenario. Thanks for sharing your experience & I also got an idea what men think about their marriage after three months.
Well something about your views about reception ceremony. I agree that you have your own concepts in your mind , but that doesn’t mean that all others think the same way. I feel it is also a kind of respect that you are giving to the bride & the groom it looks you are coming to attend somebody’s marriage watching the dulha – dulhan like hero & heroine , having food , enjoying & just walk away as you are least interested. As if you are watching a movie & then walking away & then discussing about how did it go.
Vinita is very critical on the description of the “Reception ceremony” I gave ……. Hey Lady, apologies if I hurt any sentiments but then …….. everyone has the freedom of expression !!
24.0 Kalpana Patel – My Office Colleague
You know what, you are the youngest married couple amongst us in HR. So i dont want to frighten you.
"SHAADI WOH LADOO HAI JO KAHO TO PACHTAO AUR NA KHAO TO PACHTAO".
To kha kar pachtana behtar hai. Kyun, hai na.
But i will like to tell you 6 month post engagement is not an enough time for any couple to know each other well. I have known to my husband for 11 years before we could get married. But believe me my dear brother even after knowing him for such a long period, he is very different person from what i have known him.
The best part of post marriage jeevan is the life long togetherness of some one whom you are really in love with. And then the entry of those small Guddas and Guddis makes your jindigi more exciting and a heavenly place to live in, like how RUDRANSH happened to me. For me it my husband and my son the treasure of my life.
"UNKE LIYA SAALA KUCH BHI KAREGA."
Kalpana is enjoying with her bundle of joy ……. Who is about to complete One year next month !! Preparations are in full flow ……. So ENJOY !!
25.0 Fakhri Dudhiawala – My friend from MGL
I am really surprised & happy to know that still u do have a liberty to express urself (after marriage)…….. BRAVO...
I fully agree with u for the Pre marriage part, rest I still have to experience. I think u are just wonderful and u should try some creative writing work - I don’t have a SHABD for it.
Fakhri will have “words” only for one person now …… I need not say WHO ??!!
26.0 Girish Menon – My colleague at MGL
Nice one there. But the real fun is yet to begin. When you become an
expecting father, then a father and then the little one in your life.
Holding it, .. So, keep enjoying your life.
Girish has a new entry in the family …… an angle !! Wishing U the Best of A Brilliant future !!
27.0 Geeta Madam – My Senior Colleague in MGL
Sandeep - Excellent, I could not wait to read till the finish when I saw
the mail. What you have said is true - mutual adjustment and a
give & take policy will definitely help. As one Senior Executive in my
previous company advised me - settle all your disputes before you go to
bed. Ages ago a girl used to be married off when she was still a
child, she could easily adapt herself to the new environment without
problem. Now girls grow-up, at the time when they get married have
their own ideas and egos and that's one of the reasons why there are
misunderstandings ending in divorces because egos prevent the couple
from settling out the differences then and there. Even then, India is
much better because most still have regard for old values. Trust me,
experience speaks for itself.
Last but not the least …… cannot miss the meaningful words from Geeta Madam. Rightly put, Madam has given a beautiful picture of the situation in the past and the latest !!
Thanx a Lot Madam ……..
And a special thanx to all those 27 wonderful people who have sent their replies …… It has been a great experience compiling and reliving these sweet memories !!

The Post Engagement Scenario !!!!!
Dated: November 12th 2004
Dear Friends,
A lot of people had written back that they had not receive one of my signature long e-mails since a long time ............. especially the one's on Love and that someone special in your Life ............
I had only one answer for them : I got Engaged !!
But then, I think the above answer was not right cos here I am again ........... and ..........
Before I get into the mood of writing my usual....... long e-mails, let me first share some very vital information with you:
Firstly, heres wishing one and all a Very Happy Diwali and a very prosperous New Year ahead .......... may the new year make all Ur dreamz come true !!
Second and not the least........ , I would be getting married on the 19th of December 2004 (Sunday) at Holy Family High School (Upper Grounds, Andheri - E). The wedding cards and the Official invitations would follow suit (everyone out here is invited) ......... but just thought I would give you the first hand information ...... right from the horses mouth !!
Now, coming back to the latest topic of discussion in my life (given in the subject line); I would like to share some of my experiences on the same ...............
As you all know, I got engaged on 4th July'04 (remember ID 4...... the movie - also stands for the Independence Day of USA ........ ) which gave me almost 6 months time before I actually tie the knot !!
For those who are yet to enter into this experience, I would actually suggest that there should be a minimum period of 6-7 months (not more cos then it's boring but definitely not less) before Marriage cos this is one of the best periods in your Life !!
I have seen cases where the couple got engaged and married within a period of 2 weeks ..........: In these cases, there is hardly enough time to know the opposite person ....... forget about close interactions !!
There are also cases where the waiting period is as long as 1 - 2 years, which makes it a very boring (waiting) game ........ hope U don't get old by then ??!!
The reason I am giving a lot of emphasis to this "Wonderful Experience" of the Post-Engagement scenario is cos it is a beautiful transition period for two individuals.
Traditionally, the couples are rarely allowed to meet each other before Engagement bcos of some obvious restrictions whereas generally ......... the couple take each other for granted after Marriage cos there are hardly any restrictions then....... !!
As it is said, "Rules are generally made to be broken" .......... and the fun lies in breaking rules when U could actually be punished for it !!
The Post-Engagement scenario is exactly the same situation ........... cos it brings together two individuals who are destined to be together for the rest of their lives but yet cannot break that thin barrier of restrictions !!
Just to site an example, ................. I remember School life, when as Kids, we would venture out after "BUNKING" classes. The excitement of escaping under the eyes of the School Teacher and the School peon at the main gate was simply amazing !!
The fear of being caught was always there on the back of the mind .............. but at the same time ............ when the plan actually succeeded .......... there was a huge sense of Achievement, as if you had conquered the whole World !!
But, the moment you enter College, the entire fun and the daring element of "Bunking Classes" disappeared cos when in College ....... it was meant to be a way of Life !! Nobody would ask you any questions for missing classes/ lectures cos nobody cares ......... !! U are free to do as you feel .... no restrictions imposed ........
Another feature of this period is the hefty telephone bills ....... !!
Suddenly, U feel as if there is a person who is made for you and you can share all your feelings and secrets with her. Even without any topic to share, you are able to converse for atleast 20-25 mins with her ........ so the limits are basically endless when you have your entire Life history of 20+ years to share with her !!
Some more characteristics of this beautiful period can be summarise as given below:
There is a conscious effort to be at your best behaviour when U r with him/ her
U always aim (consciously/ sub-consciously) to make an impression on him/ her
A lot of curiosity is awakened just to know ..... what he/ she likes or dislikes
U attempt to remember each and every meeting made during this period.......... every word she said, everything she did ........ and sometimes ...... what did she actually mean when she said that .................... xxxxxx ??!!
There is a lot of effort at making a close contact ............. a mischevious attempt ........ to touch her ........ to feel her or the most special ............. to kiss her !!
U never forget the first KISS ........ that special Moment of Ur Life !!
U remember her face ........ her smile ........... and that look !!
U remember the restriction imposed ............... the limits U should not cross ........... the thin barrier not to be broken .......... !!
Definitely, This is one of the best experiences of an individuals Life !!
And till now, I haven't even talked about one of my favourite topics ......... i.e. LOVE !!
That's bcos during this period, U are so engrossed trying to know the opposite person ...... that U never think about the concept of LOVE .....!!
What does Love mean to a couple of individuals who are supposed to be together for the rest of their Lives ........... ??
It's quite a difficult question to ask ........ and the answer (I am sure) would be even more difficult !! Cos I don't have one ............ can someone experienced help us out ??!!
Eagerly waiting to hear from you all ..................... !!
Lots of Love,
Sandeep

My letter to open theater post-reading - Sheece B
Sandy, this was the letter i wrote the next day after reading.
Sar-Zameeney-Open-theatre Salaam Walaykum
I thot I saw a hundred people, amongst whom was an old man called Javed Akhtar. Old coz he seemed to be talking something about not giving anything to this new generation. Wonder why he said that, maybe he was being very narrow minded abt it.
He also said something about sensitivity, half thot that it was some sort of disguised remark he made, as he couldn't say here come the cry babies... ehh.
Har kisi ka khushi se faasla bas ek kadam hai,
Har ghar mein bas ek kamra kam hai.
-Javed Akhtar
(amazing lines aren't they? classic middle-class phenomenon, someone tell him he shld stick to this, ofcourse i wont i belv in letting the writer do wat he wants to)
He also said something about the middle class, I guess in some vague way he was referring to my story, though it all went over the top of my head, and me having little hair couldn't catch much. Though i managed to say something abt tht in the interview with the sahara girl. Zubin got ur sms abt asking me to call u, I hope its not to sue me or something. If you did then let me remind you that forgiveness is the best way to punish someone, and this quote works best on me.
Ok yes, it was full house, Cha writers... shld we call it Cha..ar writers (bad one). I knew some people and I didn't know most. Sonali (Hans) was standing directly in front of me and it was good to see her face while
reading, soothed the nerves. there was this camera man who flashed when i looked up and i almost said ehh. i avoided looking at akhtar uncle coz he was making all sorts of faces and i had a feeling he would get up in between and scream stop it i cant take it anymore. thankfully he didnt,
Alhumdulillah (praise GOd).
My mom, she was looking all teary eyed and all, partly rembring the incident and partly coz her son was reading for the first time. her tears made me teary eyed (yeah yeah sensitive, don;t smirk). anjana was there too, and everyime i saw her i said to myself she is here coz she likes the carrot cake of cha bar. afterwards she said she was my biggest fan and wanted to be my groupie.
i could see little smiles when i was reading the first half and then i saw this disappointment when rahul dies, and then i rembr hearing some applause, that i think was an auditory illusion. yeah but great feeling overall. after i read my poem, akhtar uncle nods his head probably in approval (thank god he is done, go baccha and don;t come back)
the aftermath... phew .......... confession: i do not want to be famous
there was this cute female who comes to me and holds a small leaflet in hand, for a moment i thot she wants my autograph. turns out she is from some ngo and thinks i can use my writing to do some good work. i shall call her one of these days.
another dude from gulf news probably asked me 100 questions, the most absurd being "Why do you write?' I had to think fast, I said "Let me realise it first and then I will get back to you".
WIth disgust he proceeded to other questions, someone offered me tea, I was dying for some, i was sipping it
and answering this guy. After he thot he was at more comfy terms with me, he asks again "I was serious, why do you write". I stuck to my original answer with I am serious at the beginning. Zubin u think, I am learning fast? Then another girl from indian express came and i had to keep my tea down and then this boy came and took it away. In my mind i was saying "hey thats my tea, don;'t take it away, hey wait wait , oooooonwaaaaaaaa, sob sob" but my tongue was saying "yeah this is a great oppurtunity and I hope a lot of
writers will graduate from this school" (Zubin i didnt let u down, not even at the cost of tea). then i met niddhi and supriya, nice talking to u both, and i totally agree with tht empathise part you said in one of ur mails.
supriya my friend please send me ur piece, my head had thots and i cldn't concentrate when u read. shaliniji and gitikaji will you be kind enough to send urs too, in return i will send you a lot of smileys, or mebbe the four of us can go out for lunch (yeah on me) and talk abt each others experiences (yeah strictly the writers :p).
sonali , the other sonali, ahh not you the first one, yup you... i got tht book, man's search for meaning. i also got a book called the curios incident of the dead dog or something like tht..
Zubin dude... Salaam to you, If at all i manage to make it anywhere in the writing world, I will be grateful to u (even if you sue me)
I had told all my engineering friends to come, told them there will be many babes around, they didn't come and they will regret it forever. i thot for once that i shld chuck my piece and do a shammi kapoor song instead... which goes like 'kisko pyaar karoo'. largely curbed coz of the fact that my mom was arnd.
u r still reading this??? u shld contact me personally, we r destined to be good friends.
And finally a piece of advice... everyone must read to an audience, atleast once in life, it makes u a better person (the last phrase is crap and was added to provide special effects)

Vist to a Beer Bar !!!!!!
Dated: July 13th 2003
Dear All,
As usual, it's been quite some time since I wrote to U last ........ and even longer time since I received any replies from U !!
I am sure reading long mails would be a huge effort on Ur part (especially when the contents are in a language called "English) and U would be reading this mail very slowly; so I am writing this mail even slower !!
This would obviously mean a lot of constraints on saving Ur online time......... par kya karein; Aadat se Majboor hai !!
Kyonki Zindagi hai to khwab hai.......
khwab hai toh manzilen hain........
manzilen hain to raaste hain............
And the condition of the "raastein" (roads) is really BAD, this Monsoon !!
As usual; contradictory to the predictions made by the Meteorological Dept. regarding insufficient rainfalls.............. the City & the Country is experiencing an Above-average rainfall !! Something we have to thank the Rain-gods for and not the Meteorological Dept. cos the Met. Dept. has beautifully completed their job of giving "Accurately" WRONG predictions !!
Now coming back to Business; the real reason of writing this mail............... just to share some of my interesting experiences !!
The last month has been quite hectic considering the work-load at Office, the beautiful Monsoon which made it's presence felt majorly during night and leaving the daytime free for Ur usual activities !!
The last week also saw the special occasion of "the Birthday party" of a Colleague at Office !! Now there is hardly anything special regarding "Birthday parties" but in this case we decided to make it SPECIAL !!
The invitees were a selected few........ but the most interesting part was the Venue of the Event !!
Can U guess the location/ place where this event could be held......................... ??!!
How the Hell could someone imagine that the "Party" was arranged (Of All places) in a "BEER BAR" !!
Just to add to the fun........along with the Selected few Invitees were some people who could be considered "The Regulars". Now there was a definite Professional touch when U observe these so-called "Regulars" in their routine !!
They seem to know the "Menu" by-heart........don't need a second glance !! They even know the Manager, Waiters and their fellow "Regulars" at adjacent tables !!
For those who are new to this concept; "Beer Bars" have a beautiful ambiance..............
a. Dimly lit room which is hardly enough to locate Ur own plates on the table,
b. the entire room filled with the pleasant fragrance of Cigarette smoke
c. Bottles on every table.......... variety ranging from Soda, Mineral water, Thump-Up to Beer, Whiskey, Vodka, Jin ..................... the list is Endless !!
The best part comes when U try and observe the look on the faces of the people sitting on the tables. They can be divided broadly into the following categories:
1. The Regular:
Now this person is basically an Expert in his field........ knows his glass, bottle, the Brand, the waiter and also has a special choice of accompaniments (read: Chakna) along with his regular drink.
2. The Solitary Drinker:
This person can also be categorized into the first category but has some special traits which easily differentiates him from the others. He is basically a very moody person, very stressed and someone who rarely Socializes. He generally orders a menu card and asks the Waiter to order on his behalf. He just requires to spend some time in solitude ........ preferably under the influence of Alcohol so as to temporarily/ permanently forget the things troubling him.
Another special characteristic of this person would be the continuous Change in expressions on his face as he goes thru his routine. This can range from a mischievous smile, a sudden laughter, a serious look or even a drop of tear running down his cheeks !!
3. The Noisy Group:
There is generally a very noisy group available at such venues. This might be a group of people celebrating some occasion...... like ours !! The waiter serving at this table is the most troubled and confused person....... cos there are instantaneous changes in orders, a huge variety of complex menus ordered and in an even more confusing sequence !!
4. The waiters:
This bunch of poor sufferers is mostly at the receiving end at such venues. They have to take orders from a variety of people in different phases of their senses...... Full, Part, Nil !! They also meet their equally confusing counterparts (when in full flow.....read: Tully) and the outcome is a Hillarious situation !!
They also have the last LAUGH since when they produce their Bill; it's very rare that the Customer notices what he is PAYING FOR !!
So people; till the next time I feel like sharing something with U all.........
Eagerly waiting to hear from U all on this very informative piece ...............
Regards,
Sandeep Narayan
Khuda ka Shukra hai......
Warna Gujarti kaise Shaam.....
Sharaab jisne banayee......
Use hamara Salaam !!

The Beauty of the Monsoon - June 2003
Dated: June 14th 2003
Dear Friends,
It's a pleasure to write to U all after a really long gap................. the sultry Summer with it's high humidity levels, heat and sweat has finally given way to the wonderful Monsoon !!
A welcome relief, although a bit late than the usual ............ it's an excellent feeling to see the dark, heavy Monsoon clouds overhead even when Ur Meteorological Department predicts an unusually late and deficient Monsoon season !!
The Rains bring along a welcome sight............... suddenly the Trees turn into their lovely greens, the flowers seem to awake to a fresh delight and to add to it.............. the lovely scent of the rain-water quenching the thirsty Earth...............which seemed to wait all eternity for this moment !!
The very feeling of being a witness to this phenomena of "The Elements Get-to-gether" makes U realize that Nature has a lot of surprises in store for U ............. and U are yet to unravel the mysterious ways of Nature !!
Even as I write this, there are rain drops making their presence felt ............ and little children with their Umbrellas and Raincoats ...............(even when their Mummies shout and try to restrain them)...... are enjoying the lovely showers !!
As usual, a lot of people would be planning to take a break from their routine life and plan a visit to a Waterfall.........Lonavala, Khandala, Bushi Dam........ is one of those favourite locations !! It's an opportunity to be a part of nature and witness it's strength & beauty in full force !!
The rains also brings a Romantic touch to those who rely heavily on their HEARTS !!
I am reminded of a beautiful song by Lionel Richie......... it's definitely something which touches Ur heart......... and reminds U of that someone special......... !!
Let me try and capture a part of the Lyrics...................Here it goes...................................
Hello,……........Is it me Ur looking for
Cos I wonder where U are................ & I wonder what U do !!
Are U somewhere feeling lonely..........Or is someone loving U….??!!
Tell me how to win Ur Heart..........., Cos I haven’t a clue
But let me start by saying...............I LOVE U !!
SO, Moral of the Story.................:
GET WET & ENJOY THE WONDERFUL SHOWERS........... PREFERABLY WITH SOMEONE U LOVE !!
With Lots of Love,
And eagerly waiting to hear from All of U !!

Going back to Nature - 2003 !!!!!!
Dated: May 7th 2003
Dear Friends,
It feels great to be back in town after a short (but very sweet) vacation from my native town of Mangalore, Karnataka.
It was nearly after a span of 10 years that I could finally set feet again on my native soil. I call this process "Going Back to Nature" !! a process (I suggest) each individual should undergo at least once in a year...........
Let me explain why:
1. The Journey begins......
For those weak in Geography, Mangalore is a small city (approx. 1000kms from Mumbai & 350kms from Panaji, Goa) on the Western Coast of India in the state of Karnataka. My house is situated in a village approx. 35kms from the two main twin cities of Mangalore and Udipi (famous for it's Shri Krishna Temple & the originator of all Udipi Restaurants) !!
The drive from Mumbai to Mangalore leads U thru the picturesque locations of Pune, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur (inside Maharashtra) and Belgaum, Hubli, Dharwad, Honnavar in Karnataka, part of the famous Konkan Railway route.
Specially worth recommending is a drive on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway (an Engineering marvel), the new Satara-Kolhapur Expressway (under construction - WIP), the National Highways NH-4 & NH-17 and last but not the least the bridges across the various rivers en-route Bhadrakali, Netravati, Honnavar......... !!
2. The Village Scene
The lifestyle of the people can simply be called AMAZING !! The village is self-sustaining for most of it's basic needs.........
a. Water available in the wells & lakes......all U need is to draw it out of the well (the Old Pulley Trick serves as a great exercise for Ur Biceps & Shoulders - should try it out !! U will never feel the need of going to a Gym again)
b. Food (Rice) and other cereals are grown in the fields
c. Same for the huge variety of Vegetables readily grown in Ur own fields
d. Add on some luxury items like Coconut Plantations, Cashew-nut trees, Jack fruits, Sandal wood trees (a very rare & precious item I saw) ............. the list is simply endless !!
e. Fuel (for cooking) is available from the dry leaves shredded by the trees and the latest innovation is the Solar Cooker and Gobar Gas plants !!
f. U also have domestic pets like watch-Dogs, Cows (for Ur milk supply) and Buffalo's (for Ur work in the fields....ploughing etc)
I actually realized now why the "Coconut trees" were termed as "Kalpavruksh - a tree which gives U Ur desired wish". There is no part of the tree which is not utilized starting from:
(i). the Cocunut water & it's derivative (Tadi): nourishing thirst quenchers
(ii). The Leaves : are used for weaving Mats, making broomsticks and last but not the least as Fuel for the household fire !!
(iii). Cocunut Oil: from dry crushed coconuts is also used
All in all, a self-sustaining Eco-system where anything and everything is re-cycled and re-used. Even Ur garbage (segregated as Dry & Wet) is recycled !! No doubt it's got a very clean environment, a rare feature in Ur Mumbai City Life !!
3. The City
Unlike the village, the City has it's own attractions.........a beautiful clean Beach, great temples to visit (each with their own legends) and the City Bus drivers (Pvt. operators unlike BEST) driving at Break-neck speed between towns.
4. Moral of the Story
I mean we all live hectic lives in this City .......... all the time planning what is to be done tomorrow without actually realizing if we would actually survive to see the Sun the next morning.
Nature in this Mumbai city (and all other cities for instance) has been badly tampered with and the results are obvious.............Extremes of temperatures, Pollution, Uncertainties in the Monsoon, Famines, Diseases, High Stress Levels resulting in Heart Attacks at Low Ages.......... and the falling Health Levels and standards, Low Blood pressure, Diabetes.............. these words are rarely heard in the Villages
We say the standard of living has improved a lot........ but has it really ??!!
Just to conclude, it's been a great experience for me going back to my roots.......... and re-living Life the Old, Clean Style. The lifestyle teaches U to live in close co-ordination with Nature and respect it ............ unlike here when U always try and tamper with it. I am actually contemplating the fact of going back......... could be possible in the next few years..............
High Time to Answer the Call of Nature !!
Looking forward for suggestion and comments from U............
Regards,
Sandeep Narayan
Life is not a "Tempest",
Nor "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream",
It's a "Comedy of Errors",
To Live "As U Like It" !!

Symphony 2003
Dated: March 23rd 2003
Dear All,
It's a definite pleasure to be writing to U all..............on this special ocassion of "Post Symphony 2003" and the "Pre-World Cup Final" period. Even as I am writing this, Australia is going strong at 250/2 in 40 overs. A target score of 340-360 seems inevitable and only a Miracle from our seemingly strong Batting line-up can get the "Cup" to India !!
It's also been quite some time since I have been a passive admirer of the "Somaiyaengg" Yahoo E-groups stuff and I personally feel it's a great media for the Somaiyites to keep in regular touch. There have been some great discussions on various issues ranging from "Placements" to "Official Websites/ E-group sites" and announcements regarding T-Shirts, CD roms and Viva schedules !!
Kudos to the regulars on this mailing list........I remember the names vividly such as Prashant Meckoni, Vinit Tople, Padmini & Group, Ritesh Shukla................ Have to admit, it's a great effort from U guys & girls, Keep It Up !!
Coming back to the main subject i.e. Symphony 2003, was definitely different from the various Symphonies organised till date...............let me try & explain HOW ??!!
1. The Pro-nite on the final day i.e. yesterday, was a Rock-show by Parikrama..............which was actually a surprise cos the Princi "Domy" had never given anyone the permission for such a concert till date. I remember the day we were contemplating on inviting "Vikas Bhalla - of Awaara fame" sponsered by Pepsi to be a part of their lauching campaign (year 1998)...........and the resistance we received from the Mgmt !! Same case with the "Fashion-show" fiasco !!
2. The College crowd seemed to be much more than the general crowd from outside which is a general indication of the extra branches existing today .....(Mech/ Etrx/ IT/ Telecom/ Comp) which is a great deviation from our times........(Mech/ Prod/ Etrx/ Machine Tool)
3. It was a welcome surprise to see Girls volunteering in the Infra works (even though it meant co-ordinating on paper/ thru Mobiles). Infra works was always meant to be the domain of "Guys" from the "Mechanical Dept" and the "Security" rested with the "Production Dept" !!
4. Use of the Lifts in shifting Benches and Drawing tables...........a great change !! The College definitely wore a new look with the Paints On and Lifts in working condition !!
5. Probably the first time no events were held in our "Audi/ Oven"..........it's got a deserted look now...........had some great moments in the Audi during the good old days !!
6. Saw a lot of "Walkie-Talkies" and Mobile phones in action..........a concept introduced way back in 1997..............I still remember the time when we used to run from the 3rd Floor (Room No. 314 - Drgw Hall) to the OAT just to send some messages across to our Volunteers !!
All in all, seems that things have changed for the better, hopefully !!
But, Old will Always remain Gold..........still feel the fun of Symphony was great in the good old days !!
Also heard that Aadesh Shrivastav was the Pro-nite attaraction on the 2nd day with the India-Kenya Match being shown Live on the 1st Day............nice idea !! Just thought that the publicity was slightly on the lower side cos there was hardly any news of Symphony to be held in March '03.......neither on E-groups nor on any of the websites.
The Musicals & Informals were held in the area outside the Main gate near the steps, this was the place where the OAT was constructed way back in 1994-95 !! Anil Mohile was a great choice for the Chief Guest (Musicals)........some excellent performances by the performers !! Congratulations to Shridhar, nice stuff............and Padmini, thought U had a good chance at the Duets !!
To conclude, a message from Raghunandan Jagdish (Mech 2001) who's working on our website stuff and taking some great initiative on organising the Alumni efforts:
<< I wanted you to test the registry at the pilot site at www.kjscealumni.net It was designed my Amit Kaulgud and me and the functional part is about 80% complete. The pages have to be still given a consistant look and stuff but that’s minor work. For now, please visit the site and check out the alumni registry. Please take some time out and fill the "Alumni Registry" You can then edit the information later. Lemme know ASAP if something is not allright or if something can be better. This will help tremendously when we can make the registry public in two weeks.>>
It was a pleasure meeting some known faces in College on the ocassion of Symphony 2003, after a long long time. So .............Till the next time we meet, whenever i.e..............in person....!!

Life is not a "Tempest",
Nor "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream",
It's a "Comedy of Errors",
To Live "As U Like It" !!
Dear All,
It's a definite pleasure to be writing to U all..............on this special ocassion of "Post Symphony 2003" and the "Pre-World Cup Final" period.
Post Re-union 2003
Dated: February 10th 2003
Dear Friends,
It's a pleasure to be back with U after a week-long break......... hopefully the weekend's been good for U ......... this week seems to be even shorter (in India) with a Bank holiday scheduled for this Thursday for the event of Bakri-Id !!
Something that I missed last time, Symphony 2003 is sheduled for March 21st, 22nd and 23rd 2003......... over a period of three days ....(Obviously !!) in KJSCoE.
Thanx for the response to my last mail on the Re-union........ it's surprising that even though people read the mailers, it's a rare exception that someone would take the trouble to reply !!
So let me attempt and capture some of the responses I had for my last mail........
Mustafa Rawat (BE Mech 1999): Mustafa says ..........."I finally decided to come out in the open, still working on my MS thesis, coursework is complete, looking for a job but don't see that happening anytime, so Maybe you will be seeing me sooner than expected."
Vinil K (BE Prod 2000): Vinil says........"It was nice reading your email abt the Reunion. Its really funny how atleast in Mumbai colleges we do not have a nice practice of having the alumini involved in college. (Atleast in KJSCE, this is true)
Had been to college just b4 I left, well maybe the asthetics have changed with paint and lift and all, but my good friend, the attitude, such a crucial part in becoming a great college has not. I met Yelu, he was the same as before, Used to Crib in my SE, now its 5 yrs and he still cribs. Munshi, BMP always seemed to hate the politics of our college and surprisingly that also has not changed. THey just seem to have a dull existance now. "
Anup Bandivdekar (BE Mech 1998): Anup says......"Thanks for your report, it is really appreciated. I am currently in Cambridge, Massachusetts at MIT. I am in the Technology and Policy Program and currently working with Prof. John Heywood in the Sloan Automotive Lab. I will be here for another couple of years. Just by fluke, I ran into Ashish Vora (Mech '98) last weekend, who is currrently on an assignment in Rhode Island."Hey Anup, I remember Ashish Vora......... we used to call him the "Laughing Don" cos he used to always Laugh........and that was such a laughter......!!
George Abraham (BE Mech 1998): George says........."Hope you have some memory of me!! I read a forward of your email regarding the reunion of Somaiyaites. Brought back some memories man!!! I am still reeling from the news that the college has been painted! Anyway, thanks a million for taking the time out and actually writing such a long email!Hey George.....of coure I remember U......... and remember the time when Ranbare (from our Work-shop) used to call U........"Gor-gay" !! The were legendary statements......... never meant to be forgotten !!
Hey people, it feels great to hear from U all. I was chatting with Mandira and Parshuram Zantye sometime back, and we were just re-living some of those old times............discussing our Love-lifes and in general discussing the good old days............... !!
Mandira, Congratulations for Ur placement at GE-SBI, Gurgaon..........as I told U, Hamare "Gaon" ko tumhari jarrorat hai........... and I am waiting for the treat !!
A lot of people have enquired abt my schedule for "Tying the knot", so just to update U: the process has already been initiated and think something will get finalised very soon............. will update U on the same in the next mail........ !!
And I also came across the KJSCE web-site listing the Alumni databse at http://www.kjsc.ac.in/ and I am attaching an html file showing the Alumni List........ Raghu, please check if U can use these details...........
Please find attached a photo from our friend Rahul's marriage......
Photograph from Runa Saraswat with her roomie...............
Photograph of "The Gang" at Vinil's B'day party..............
The World Cup has started and I am sure it's going to keep a lot of us glued to the TV Sets................!!
So people, till the next time I see U & talk to U............Just Chill Out !!

KJSCoE Alumni Re-union 2003
Dated: February 2, 2003
Dear Friends,
It's that time of the year when I bore U with some more details about our good old college - Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya College of Engineering situated in the distant village of Vidyavihar........ approx. 60kms from the city of Mumbai earlier known as Bombay !!
The Ocassion: Annual College Re-union for the Alumni of KJSCoE...... !!
Date:
January 26th 2003 (Republic Day)
The Venue:
Room No. 221 (popularly called the Seminar Hall.......... near the more famous "Slope") !!
The Gathering:
38 Alumni students from batches ranging as far as 1988 to the more recent ones of 2001........ sadly none from the more recent batches of 2002 pass-outs !! Also, not to miss out on our good old Shri. P M Kavadia, Domy, Kumthekar Madam, our Librarian, Prof. Desai - (of Maths fame), Prof. Munshi, Prof. Rao.......... and the other "Host"- (read Parasites) Professors !!
The Program:
Total Shit !!
The Proceedings:
Well, to begin with, I reached the venue late as usual............ think the habit of going late to Office is showing it's effects !! But thankfully, nothing was lost cos the entire program was actually running way behind schedule.......... !!
The main attraction of the event was felicitation of Alumni students who had progressed/ done quite well in their life........ this year there were 2 people from the 1986 Production Batch (apologies cos I don't remember their names now !!)
Then began a volley of lectures by everyone on the dias......... and as usual the most boring part of the event !! I was either laughing or sleeping through this part of the proceedings and it was only when Amol Mali woke me up, that I realized I was in Somaiya ??!!
Phase II:
The next part of the program was a variety entertainment stuff planned by the students of the existing TE batch, for which none of us stayed back. I believe there were "Spot prizes" for the performers which was ultimately distributed amongst themselves !! Good for them !!
The College in General:
There were a lot of marked changes which were visible ............. improvements from the last time I saw Somaiya ......... which was during last "Symphony" way back in Feb 2002...........
1. Presence of 2 Nos. Lifts in working condition (one marked specifically for Staff Members)
2. Painting of the walls of the College .......... which I thought would always be a distant dream
3. Introduction of Digital ID Cards which also double-up as Library Cards........... the idea was that these cards could be used anywhere in the entire Somaiya campus
4. Room No. 202........ the class room earlier used by Electronic Students (I still remember the females) has been now transformed into a Conference room/ Auditorium. A beautiful piece of art equipped with Projectors, Computers, 4 Nos. Split A/c's and Carpet flooring !! This was sponsored by an Alumni, Swadesh (BE-Prod 1985 batch) during the last Re-union meeting and is finally ready a year later.................. definitely fast by Somaiya standards !!
5. A fully computerized Library
6. A spacious Canteen
7. The Badminton Court with timings of 10 am -12 pm reserved specially for the Ladies..................... talk of reservations everywhere !!
Moral of the Story:
We were later informed by confidential sources that "Somaiya" had applied for Autonomy status and as part of the procedures, the Accreditation Committee was supposed to visit the College in order to grade the College !!
Meeting the Alumni was a mandatory requirement of the Accreditation process and that was exactly what was lacking in the entire scene !! A Sub-committee was appointed to update the status on the existing Alumni database (as proposed by Shri PMK) and line-up the entire system !!
The Negative aspect:
There were a lot of Mechanical Professors conspicious by their absence........... Chandu (Chandrashekhar), Divya, Meeta Gandhi, Bumpy (BM Pradhan), Gangu (Gangrade) and most of the Electronics/ Telecom Professors like UBJ...... !!
To add to it, there was Yelpale (who was dying to do some shit mimicry of Domkundwar, as he was earlier told that Domy would not be able to make it to the event as he was supposed to submit some reports in Delhi !! But a classical case of "Man proposes & God Disposes" !!
Seems there is some dirty internal politics between the Departments........... which is really SICK !!
The Positive Aspect:
Got to meet a lot of people, let me just tell U abt all the people I still remember, this also includes the people who could not attend the dumb event :
1. Amol Mali (BE- Mech 2000): Has joined the Indian Army and is stationed in Jammu, district Udhampur in the Anti-terrorist squad........... right in the line of Fire !!

Happy Diwali 2002 - The Mystery of Love !!!
Dated: November 3rd, 2002
Dear Friends,
Wish U all a Very Happy Diwali & a Safe, Prosperous New Year !!
It is that time of the month when I send U the regularly irregular updates on the things happening all around. There is one topic which has been the most talked about for years and yet is something which is the least understood till date. It's some sort of a Mystery........and I am going to attempt and unravell the mystery !!
Actually, the last couple of weeks of my life have been quite hectic, shuttling between three of my Colleagues marriages (with another 2 scheduled to tie the knot very soon next month) and an Emergency at Office (lasting over 3 days) which threatened to shut down the Gas supply to Bombay City. But as they say, " All's Well that End's Well " !!
So here I am, trying something different............ talking on the phenomena called "LOVE" !!
I am sure, at one point of time or the other, we must have all thought about Life's best Spice called " Love " and the other allied concepts such as Pure Love, Love at First sight.... the Ideal Lover ......etc.
How exactly do you define Love or...... Can you actually define Love ??!!!
If we try and analyze this phenomena called Love, you can say "Physical beauty / attraction" is one of the mostly used criteria s. How does "Physical beauty" actually come into the picture ?
Personally speaking, a Girls Eyes are one of the most enchanting, mysterious and sparkling guides to attraction. The eyes being one of the most expressive part, are the first ones to initiate the process of Love. There are different ways in which the eyes flirt...............
a. Watching from the corner of the eyes
b. A continuous stare at the opposite person.........
c. Trying to look away from the person when U actually want to watch him all the while.............or just simply...........
d. A harried or nervous look, searching to get another glance of his/her beloved !!
The look says it all and the feelings are quite obvious the moment you look into her eyes !!
Couple this Language of the Eyes with a sweet Smile and there U have a deadly combination ................... eagerly poised to kill whoever sets his eyes on her............ !!
Love also takes in a lot of other characteristics which could be classified as given below:
1. A great sense of Humour....... someone who can make U laugh !!
2. A sense of Understanding......... someone with whom U can share Ur feelings
3. Or simply put............ a person with whom U can talk.............about anything ranging from what happened at Office to the Yearly Indian Fiscal Budget to the Anti-terrorist Campaign of America !!
After all, once the Physical Attraction ends........ somewhere down the line.......... it's only the "Understanding - Mutual Attraction" which can keep the relationship going !!
Now, to an even more interesting topic...............:
How do U actually come to know that U are in LOVE ??!! Let's see if I can give U some important pointers..........
1. Whenever Checking e-mails, if U eagerly wait to see his/ her name in the Inbox and just can't wait to read the message it contains................... U know, U are in Love !!
2. Whenever there is a phone Call, if U expect it to be him/ her on the other side of the line, ................... U know, U are in Love !!
3. When Ur eyes keep searching for that someone Special in a crowd................... U know, U are in Love !!
4. When U want to spend the maximum of your free time with that someone special................... U know, U are in Love !!
5. When time flies off at a very fast pace, when U are in his/ her Company and U hope that time should stand still for some more time................... U know, U are in Love !!
6. When U talk to him/ her and Ur heart just skips a beat, ................... U know, U are in Love !!
Love is one feeling which makes a seemingly ordinary person feel " Very Important & Special" !! and is something which I believe everyone needs to Experience !!
Think that should be enough for this great & Happy occasion of Diwali !! Please do send in Ur comments on the same cos I am sure U all will have a lot to say about one of my favourite topics..........
Eagerly waiting to see U all and receive your responses cos it's really frustrating when U write to people (read: Friends) and they read the mails but never respond !!
With lots of love,
Sandeep Narayan

KJSCoE Alumni Reunion 2002
Dated: January 28, 2002
Dear Friends,
I am sending along with the details of the Annual Re-union meeting of K J Somaiya College of Engineering which was held on January 27, 2002.
The program was scheduled to start at 3.30 pm with Sameer Somaiya, PM Kavadia and Swadesh (an Ex-student from 1985 batch Prod) as the dignitaries but I am not sure when it started cos as usual I reached late ie around 4.30 pm.
At the Registration counter, there was a huge Banner proclaiming "Are u a part of Symphony 2002". As a matter of curiosity, I inquired at the Registration counter regarding the dates of Symphony. But those guys did not have any idea. So, I asked them if they were from Somaiya. One of them answered that he was from the 3rd Year and the other person was a Professor !!
As usual, we sat through the lectures by Sameer, Dr Munshi (now the Vice Princi), Shri V "Mhanje" Domkudwar, Swadhesh and Shri PM Kavadia. All the above were boring as usual.
This was followed by a lecture on "Rise & Fall of Dotcom" for which hardly any people stayed back. We were sitting in the Canteen (which has changed a lot) sipping good Coffee (there was no water so he had only used pure milk !!!). We were joined by Shetty Sir, SS Sahare and Prof Gilke. Sudhish prefered to stick to Ashok discussing the College events.
We were then called for an Entertainment session where people were supposed to perform. It all began with the rendition of Shayari by Prof Prashant Jain (of FM Lab fame). He was actually the host for the evening and took every opportunity to release some of his built-up frustrations.
Next up was a dance by two girls from the Juniors batch. It was quite OK cos we were informed that the dance was planned within a span of 2 days. Well, have to accept a fact that the no. of girl students has surely increased in KJSC cos even Ashok wasn't aware that the girls were from our College (which was a great surprise).
After that thanks to the masti by Nikhil Anthony, the undersigned was asked to sing a song. Well, I did oblige but wound up the same abruptly cos I didn't have the "Source of Inspiration", which was there in the good old days. Nothing great about my performance but was quite OK by my own standards.
The next attraction was the song/ joke/ rip-off by Shri Yelpale on a popular Hindi pop number in different styles ranging from Gazals - Bhajan - Classical - etc etc. The best part was the Mimicry in the background (by none other than the undersigned) imitating the Parrots and the Hen's voice. Got to admit (the timing was perfect !!).
Shri Prashant Jain concluded with his last Shayari and we all proceeded to have refreshments which was Ragda Pattice with lots of Gulab Jambun.
Prof. Domkundwar (during refreshments) came in enquiring in general. I asked him about this years Symphony and he replied that "this yrs Council was hell bent on having the best Symphony till date cos it was a question of their prestige".
Hope they stay up to his expectations.
The other professors present were Prof BuMPy, Mrs Divya Padmanabhan, Prof Kumthekar, the Librarian, Prof Rao and some more.
The other students present were Sudhish (Mech 98), Abhijit Bhandarkar, Nikhil Anthony, Pramodh, Rajat, Jyoti, Jasma and the batch.
All in all a great evening spent between friends and reliving some great moments from the past but I did miss all u people. It was also great to see that people still remember u after such a long time cos it's been 2 1/2 year since we left college but some of the Juniors still knew my name (it was quite a surprise). Ditto with the Professors !!
Mail me back your comments on the same, if any.
Regards,
Sandeep
PS: The college is half painted with a provision for the lift (board put up by OTIS), hopefully to be completed by March 20??'. The first coat of paint has already began peeling off.
The Prod batch has been terminated from last year.

Dear Friends,
I am sending along with the details of the Annual Re-union meeting of K J Somaiya College of Engineering which was held on January 27, 2002.

The mysteries of life !!
Dated: January 25, 2002
Dear Friends,
Today, as I write this mail, things are quite hazy......life is very uncertain, mysterious and has its own questions which have to be answered by everyone on his own. But there are somethings which have no answer at all and this is just one of those attempts to find an answer to that mysterious thing we call "LIFE".
I am sure, at one point of time or the other, we must have all thought about Life's best Spice called " Love " and the allied concepts such as Pure Love, Love at First sight.... the Ideal Lover ......etc.
If we try and analyse this phenomena called Love, you can say "Physical beauty / attaraction" is one of the mostly used criterias. But is this physical beauty able to keep up that relationship between a "Man and Woman" for a long time. Is the relationship sustainable on this aspect alone ?
How exactly do you define Love or...... Can you actually define Love ??!!!
I know a guy who at the age of 20 yrs is married to a Girl of age 18 yrs and says he loves his next door neighbour of the same age. He actually managed to send two similar Greeting cards......one to his wife and the other for his so-called girl-friend on the occasion of Diwali........with the same "Shayari" professing his true love for each of them.
God knows what would have happened if we had interchanged the Envelopes !!
On the other hand, I look at my Grandmother, who just could not accept the death of my Grandfather at the ripe old age of 84 yrs, this week. They were happily married for the last 63 years !! She still remembers each and every moment she spent with him and recounts the various funny encounters during his life time.
When I try and compare the above two situations, I just can't help but think :
"What exactly is the feeling which keeps up the bond between a Man and a Woman"
I am sure it cannot be Physical attraction cos u can't have that after spending ur entire life with the same guy and that too at the age of 70-80 yrs though it could be possible in the first case.
Well, personally, I can't see myself spending so much of time with the same woman...imagine spending ........ 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.
Would there be any particular item/ occasion which could serve as a surprise or keep up the interest in the opposite person for such a period. I think the feeling would soon die out after a very short time. What next ??
At the end of this analysis, the institution of "Marriage" and the strange phenomena called "Love" is still a mystery.................and I think will always remain a mystery !!!???
What do you say ???
Regards,
Sandeep Narayan
P.S: Possibly, some of you could think it's a very boring narration. But, I just couldn't help it cos it's something which is very close to my heart.
